Imperial–metric measurement conversion tables
Dimension conversion tables for art historians and others
Quickly and accurately convert between inches and centimetres in artwork dimensions and other measurements
As used by a real editor
I created this tool to save myself time and increase my accuracy in my art history copyediting and proofreading, and I’m sharing it with you completely free.
Looking up conversions from inches to centimetres and vice versa can be tedious, and every time you type a value into a calculator you increase the risk of a typo.
My conversion tool works differently. It’s not a calculator you type into. Instead, it’s a spreadsheet that lists all the conversions you’re likely to need in table form, so you can quickly and easily look them up.
And you can filter the output to the degree of accuracy you need.
This tool allows you to:
- Quickly check conversions from inches to centimetres and from centimetres to inches
- Improve your accuracy: no chance of typos in the values you look up
- Filter the input (e.g. nearest half inch or nearest tenth of a centimetre)
- Customize the output rounding (e.g. nearest eighth of an inch or centimetres to nearest three decimal places)
- See imperial output in fractions (e.g. no need to remember that 5/8 of an inch is 0.625)
- Save your wrists: reduce your risk of RSI (repetitive strain injury) with fewer clicks and less scrolling
